an easter haiku

sun in the room through
the gauzy closed curtain.  it
warms my back slowly.

the maimed (mk 9:42-48)

the kingdom of God is filled
with the maimed—
one hand, one foot, one eye...
humbled people
who have been through hell,
who would rather live with others
than for themselves,
who are slow and quiet
and laughing,
because they know
life is right here.
